“Ballerina”, Ballerina producer Yann Zenou confesses that the main influences of this personal success story are Karate Kid, Billy Elliot and even Rocky.
If to this cocktail we add a good script (although the story is not very original), a lot of sense of humor, great choreographies, unforgettable characters, an amazing time recreation, much rhythm, action, emotion and adventures. We have a great movie for all audiences, both children and their parents.
A magnificent show in which we highlight the novelties in the history of animation (not forgetting Disney Fantasy), the ballet numbers, which have been devised with two real choreographers: Aurélie Dupont and Jérémie Bélingard.
A great French production, which returns to one of the themes most treated in cinema (especially in the animation), to pursue dreams and fight for them. And that shows again the current high level of French animation, which in recent months has offered us other great titles as The Little Prince or Phantom Boy.
The protagonist of the story is Felicia (Elle Fanning), an orphan girl who dreams of becoming a dancer. For this he will have the help of his friend Víctor, a young inventor. Both escape the orphanage and travel to Paris where they will try to make their dreams come true.
#3 A great release date: March 17, 2017
On their way they will find numerous allies, like an exbailarina who will teach Felicia, and some enemy, like Régine, the mother of another girl dancer who will do everything possible to sabotage the protagonist. Régine is certainly inspired by Cinderella's stepmother, Cruella Deville (101 Dalmatians), and Coppola's Dracula." And is that in the film there are many scenarios, situations and recognizable characters; But at the same time its directors, Eric Summer and Eric Warin, manage to give a fresh and new air to the set; Thanks to a fast-paced script (in which things do not stop happening), and characters based on stereotypes, but who conquer us right away.
To emphasize again the influence of Billy Elliot, not only in the argument but also in the class struggle between rich and poor; And of Karate Kid, especially in the scenes of training of the young dancer. It does not give wax or polish wax but does things that pursue the same goals.
The dance scenes are spectacular. And it is that they have been made by the two choreographers mentioned, based on real movements, although the animators have accelerated them to be more impressive ... The choreographers define it as "dance 2.0!".
The city of Paris (with its illuminated streets, Opera Theater, Senna ...) is the other great protagonist of the film, which is set in a very specific time (just before the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1889 ).
When the renovations of Baron Haussmann (the French senator who worked with Napoleon III in the renovation of Paris) were still under way, and Eiffel was building his two most famous works, the Eiffel Tower and the Statue of Liberty. Precisely Victor will get work in the workshop of Eiffel.
